Notes: Bryan proposes establishing a memorial church in Handley’s honor, and beautifully says, that “Dr. Handley had a monument in the hearts of the people that would live forever but that the popular appreciation of his labors in behalf of the religious progress of the community should find expression in some substantial form and he knew of no more elequent testimonial than the erection of a temple where the word of God would be expounded long after he had gone to his reward.”
